Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar was an American and British sitarist. She was first within her age bracket to be awarded the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar, a young emerging superstar on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is a student as well as granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982 and spent her early years shuttling to London as well as New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. She graduated in 1999 from her high schooling within Encinitas CA. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful performing and recording careers, even though she's only a teenager. Since a while, she regularly performs with her father. She released her first single album Anourag in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka isn't just a musician. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The Love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was a Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to develop and we can expect to see a lot from her in years to be. Anoushka was raised in England and spent a lot of her youth in between London in the UK and Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and enrolled in the high school. She began studying music at the age nine and was a sitar player to commemorate the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi four years later. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences by accompanying her dad during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts and performing alongside George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
